Imbolc headed woman

The Celtic festival Imbolc is associated with Brighid. Her name seems to have derived from either breo-saighead “fiery arrow” or “the bright one”, or the Sanskrit word Brahti “the powerful one” or “the high one”. She is either shown as a maiden/crone or beautiful and ugly. She was a sun/dawn and fire Goddess. She was born at Sunrise on the threshold as her mother went to milk the cows, and a tower of fire came from her forehead that stretched from Earth to Heaven. She, therefore fulfilled a prophecy of neither being born inside or outside, or during day or night. In another myth, a house she was in burst into flames and the flames engulfed her body without burning her.
